Based on a true story like so many other biographys, She Said follows two New York Times journalists, (Carey Mulligan, Zoe Kazan) exposing years of sexual allegations against Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein that led to his downfall. Even the King of Hollywood can be taken down as this story first surfaced in 2017.
Director Maria Schrader’s story is as accurate as the real-life survivors on screen and off depicted it. There’s nothing new here as this investigating has been told many times over in the past several years. None the less I enjoyed this latest telling which spurred the #METOO movement. There are cameos by some famous actors in this film but no spoilers here. I trust this film to succeed in box office sales when it opens Friday November 18 but I’ve miss-judged before. On a 32 million dollar budget, it should do that plus get some award nominations. 4 stars (out of 5).
