It’s here, what MCU fans have all been waiting for. After two decades of Spider-Man the grand finally hits theaters and although the trailers are laced with spoilers I will be careful. This flick is a lot of fun, corny and intriguing and will have no problem in the finance dept. when it opens in theaters December 17. Director Jon Watts shows Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is still a kid, devoted to his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best buddy Ned (Jacob Batalon).
With his alter-ego now being publicly known he turns to Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to erase all public memory. This comes with consequences that alter more than Spidey bargained for. Many blasts from the past emerge and the party starts to get crowed and fun. Too many characters doing too many things crammed into a two and a half hour movie gets a little confusing.
Dr. Strange has his hands full trying to contain all the villains who snuck into this present universe back to their own world that are neatly tucked away in a box. Things go sour killing a popular character of which I shall remain silent on. Dr. Strange has a fairly big role in this film and the end credit (the second) showed his return in his second (stand-alone, I suppose). He is long overdue but covid delayed our life and his return.
By now, the whole world (real life) knows of all the cameos that appear here from the previous two decades but again, I will not disclose that info. Spider-Man has my mouth sealed. With great powers come great responsibilities. Don’t think to deep into the character’s de-aging process in this film. Holland has aged gracefully while cgi pulled a few strings, or webs if you will, on the other past villains. So be sure to visit the world wide web. Spider-man does. Thank you Sony studios, I was happy to have seen this Marvelous film. 4 Stars
