After 11 years on Fox, the popular animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers finally hits the big screen. Directors Loren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman have a cute/silly story with the family trying to scrape up money for their doors to stay open. Business has slowed down as a $5.00 burger and $4.00 beer can’t hold down the fort. They visit a bank for help only to be turned down with time running short.
The Belchers attempt to brainstorm ideas but all was put on pause as a massive sinkhole appears in front of the building and all but shuts down their successful business. This starts a mystery as Louise uncovers a skeleton buried in the crater and the kids set off on a mission to dig up clues while trying to turn things around to save the establishment including a food cart without a license to make rent money in the seven day deadline. Linda even dons a burger suit to draw customers.
A cufflink appears as a big help as this leads the underdogs to a carnival to piece together the puzzle while enjoying some rides bring the culprit to justice and save the burger joint. Returning voices of the series include John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Kristen Schaal Zach Galifianakis, Ariz Ansari, Stephanie Beatriz and Kevin Kline. I’ll take my buns warm.
I am hoping this memorial day release will make it big especially with all the upcoming competition. This is a fun ride with some cool music and some bad words mixed in. The movie opens May, 27. 2 1/2 stars
