This is the time for all holiday releases to hit the big screen with great ornamental stories. November is normally the big Christmas fares we are so anxious to grab our popcorn (with butter) sit down at the theater and watch. Last Christmas is in that category and it is centered around music by Wham.
Last Christmas, Kate (Emila Clarke) had a heart transplant which, before her surgery she was a hard worker, aspiring singer but had some poisonous habits that probably led to her change of heart. After her transplant she straightened out her way of thinking to for a healthier lifestyle. That was short lived as she soon returned to her old habits that were doctor-ordered not to do.
Her job at a Christmas shop job was put in jeopardy and she was a failure at a singing audition. Then she meets Tom (Henry Golding) a mysterious fellow who stashes his cell phone in the cupboard instead of his pocket. That makes it impossible for her to communicate with him. When Tom keeps reappearing out of nowhere they meet in her bedroom but he refuses to lay with her as he states “in due time”. In a park they once again meet and chat then she slips down her shirt strap to expose her scar. Tom touches it and then the movie is a dead give away with out giving away any spoilers here. This movie is romantic and is funny in spots but mostly is just corny served with small lumps of coal. The acting is very good, Kevin Feig does a good job at directing it but the story is just too easy to figure out. However with Emma Thompson as Petra trying her skills at the screenplay along with Bryony Kimmings the film was saved from the naughty list. This film opens everywhere November 8. **
