This is the season for love which means theatres and streaming services have a lot to offer movie fans especially after a long hiatus thanks to pandemic. Marry Me which stars Jennifer Lopez as a popular singer/dancer on tour. From the start, Kat Valdez (JLo) is preforming before a sold out crows and streaming across the country. She, however is there to wed her music star Bastian (Maluma in his feature debut) as their hit song “Marry Me” is climbing the charts quickly.
Everything is all set to have her stage wedding when she gets wind of him being unloyal. She puts on her sad face, still wanting wedding bells to ring, in a moment of madness randomly picks out a stranger in the audience Charlie (Owen WIlson) who is displaying a “Marry Me” sign. He is taken off guard but accepts the challenge and they are married on stage and before a live streaming audience. Charlie is a divorced math teacher raising his daughter (Chloe Coleman) who is responsible for dragging him to the concert along with his best friend (Sarah Silverman).
Things happen, circumstances interfere now their marriage is on the rocks. After all, how can two opposites blend so well and Kat hits the stage again this time with Bastian with their popularity and songs soring. Jimmy Kimble even has a say-so with a clip from his taped show. In some more relaxing scenes with Charlie and Kat, they found some down time with wine and food and Kat makes a visit to Charlie’s math class and of course all the kids have tons of questions. This is where Kat first and finally meets his daughter. J. Lo is known for her fancy outfits and the wardrobe department wasted no time dressing her with Cinderella outfits. The music is fun to listen to and I will say director Kat Coiro has a fuzzy/cute comedy, romantic, musical that is a nice valentine gift to those who wish to test the waters with the other romantic valentine gift “I Want You Back” out there this weekend. This is their second outing together with the first 22 years ago being Anaconda (1997).
