Frozen II (2019) PG 1h 43min

Disney keeps on coming up with the hit as they rule the market anymore. Frozen II is a charming but dark sequel and is destined to not only beat out the first one that came out in 2013, it might freeze the competition and make Disney richer than what they already are. But it’s been Disney who has most all the blockbusters this year so come opening weekend the 22nd, we’ll see.

This time around the characters embark on a dangerous journey to a obscure forest with hopes of obtaining knowledge of Elsa’s (Idina Menzel) powers. In this story, told mainly in flashbacks, the sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) learn more information about their parent’s death. Along the way they brave the elements of wind, fire and water with perilious scenes that might be a bit much for pre-schoolers but remember it’s only PG so no graphic scenes. Olaf (Josh Gad) comes to the rescue as he takes charge of the humor department to make us laugh and he is a big part of the franchise. In the end, director Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee who also handled the screenplay for the first Frozen in 2013, return for round two and know exactly how to keep the youngsters frozen to their seats. ****
