Doctor Sleep (2019) R 2h 31min Drama, Fantasy, Horror

Years after “The Shining” grown-up Dan Torrance (Evan McGregor) meets young Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran) with powers resemblant to his. He tries to protect her from a cult called The True Knot lead by Rebecca Ferguson that attempt to steal their powers if they are to remain immortal.

Danny moves to a New Hampshire town where his “shining powers” comfort the dying in a nursing home and becomes “Doctor Sleep”. Hot in pursuit are The True Knot who will stop at nothing to rule. This awakens Danny’s demons and takes him back to the Overlook in a battle to save Abra. It’s very long movie with some frighting background sounds and music. The film should have been cut by 30 minutes with the exception of the special effects which were all about vapor inhaled from canisters. See the movie to better understand that part.

Rebecca Ferguson in Warner Bros Doctor Sleep

This is a solid movie as a wonderful continuation of the series. The beautiful Rebecca Ferguson gets deep into character and every part she carries is worth it although the film was a little tug-a-lug at times until the end. That’s what you need to wait for. 4 stars (out of 5)
