Born April 30, 1985, Gal Gadot-Varsano is an Israeli actress/model. She has appeared in The Fast and the Furious franchise but made her big break in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as Wonder Woman in 2015. Now, the 32 year young actress has her own stand-alone blockbuster Wonder Woman. However, we are not to endure another self-pity dose of where Batman v Superman left off. Whew! Director Patty Jenkins sees to that with an interesting, fun, and not to predictable story.
The story starts with a W. W. 1 fighter plane flown by a spy for the Allies Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) wearing a German uniform, crash lands on her Amazon paradise island. She rescues him and he tells her of a pending war going on across the sky.. The bad guys follow Steve’s plane and hence forth they battle the Amazons on the beach. Diana (Wonder Woman) puts her aunt’s Antiope (Robin Wright) training into action with arrows and more notably the Lasso of Truth (a glowing piece of rope) that you want to stay on the good side of. Steve and Diana set sail to the war over seas where she puts her true talents to work. Boy, this is where the fun begins. Her shield, sword and bracelet helps her trek across no-man’s land, and flips a truck and leaps to dismantle a church steeple with an attitude.
Strutting along side her are a quartet of misfits and super-villains that include Danny Huston as a German commander and a diabolical chemist played by Elena Anaya. There is plenty of non-bloody violence an innocent kiss between her and Steve plus a biography lesson on how Amazons speak english and how it’s a female only island. Men are non-existent and have been sealed off from the Amazon world which makes me ask how did the Amazons get there? Oh, well, this is not a sex education review. It’s a wonderful Wonder Woman review that has a semi-weak ending but don’t let that deture you from seeing this summer’s biggest blockbuster and perhaps this year’s biggest hit even though it is full of special effects. But, what movie isn’t anymore? Spider-man is and it worked. Wonder Woman is in theaters now and has a running time of 2 hrs 20 min. The film is classified as Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi. The cast includes Patty Jenkins, Gal-Gadot, Connie Nielsen, Chris Pine, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, and Said Taghmaoui. Hands down to costume designer Lindy Hemming. Nice job! Lynda Carter, you were the original, however that caught our eyes in the 1975-1979 T.V series
Wonder Woman will return with the Justice League in November 2017 and in a sequel to Wonder Woman in 2019
