Forced to play by the rules, a group of black friends gather for a Juneteenth party at a remote cabin. The only catch is they’re trapped with a “twisted killer” and by playing with his rules, this ain’t no ordinary game of which they had expected. They play and at the same time, wondering they can’t all die first.. they’re black. The entire tropes are black and trying to figure out who will die first according to the answer on the game board. It asks questions and you figure the correct answer in a limited time and who is black enough in Tim Story’s film.
I actually appreciated this movie due to all the surprises and (again) twists that keep appearing. It stars Grace Byers, Antoinette Robertson, Dewayne Perkins, X Mayo, Jay Pharoah, Sinqua Walls and Yvonne Orji. It has a reminder of Hide and Seek (2021) with laugh-out-loud bursts. There is no nudity/sex but prepare for lots of language as the film opens in theaters June 16, 2023. 3 stars
